About Our Artists
Our Artists

Surprisingly for a small, rural Illinois village, Arthur has a number of top quality artists in a number of medias. Quality photography, watercolors, oils and chalks were instantly available, and with the support and interest of our three nearby university art departments, the galleries were born.
Ron Bartenen - In addition to being a minister of the gospel, Ron has been an award winning artist for over 45 years and has his work displayed in galleries and private collections throughout the United States.  His paintings are generally considered impressionistic in style while he concentrated on scenic landscapes and still life paintings.  Ron and his wife live in Sullivan Illinois.

Richard Herschberger- Photographer with an Amish background.  Richard grew up in the Arthur Amish community, photographs for the Amish, and is well accepted by the local Amish community.  Richard has over 25 years of photography experience.  He has studied with prominent photographers including Ansel Adams, John Sexton, and Sherman Hines

Mark Jones - Born and raised in the Arthur, Illinois area, Mark received a BS in Cinema and Photography at Southern Illinois University in 1973.  He has studied extensively under Ansel Adams, Paul Caponigro, Ray DeCarava, John Sexton, Bruce Bambaum, and Ray McSavaney at numerous workshops around the country.  In 1989 Mark began photography of University of Illinois athletes and is currently the primary photographer for the U of I athletic department.

Janet Roney - A well known and highly respected watercolor artist specializing in local landscapes, rural scenes, and floral originals and quality art prints who calls Lovington, Illinois home.
